| The Amici Singers... |
|
Following some years of participation in an evening choral class led by Brenda D. Hawer at the Horsforth Music Centre in Leeds, members of the group decided to reform as an independent, community based choir in September 1997. Since then numbers have doubled. Membership is open to anyone interested in singing for pleasure, regardless of age or experience. There are no auditions and while some members have previous choral experience, others have been introduced to singing for the first time, several taking up this new interest in retirement. The name Amici Singers was chosen to reflect the essentially friendly nature of the group, whose members considered the social aspect of choir life only secondary in importance to their musical endeavours. | ||
